PRESIDENT KENYATTA TELLS OFF LEADERS OVER DIVISIVE POLITICS

President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again called on leaders to shun divisive politics and strive to unite the country.

Speaking today at Kapsabet in Nandi County during a fundraiser at AIC Kapsabet mission, President Kenyatta said that no one person can succeed
without the support of the other.

He called on the National Assembly and the Senate to end the war of words over division of revenue, saying politics of chest thumping at
functions will not lead them anywhere.

President Kenyatta advised leaders to organise forums where they can sit down and discuss issues they feel have not been addressed so as to eliminate unnecessary political fights.

The president was responding to sentiments by Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki that the Senate is ready to fight the National Assembly
after they redirected the Sh1 billion meant for facilitating Senate’s oversight role to counties.

A total of Sh19 million was raised towards the construction of the church.

Nandi County governor HE Dr Cleophas Lagat has cautioned rumour peddlers over the ongoing propaganda of transfer of Koitalel Samoei University from its proposed site in Nandi Hills to Mosoriot.

Nandi County governor HE Dr Cleophas Lagat has cautioned rumour peddlers over the ongoing propaganda of transfer of Koitalel Samoei University from its proposed site in Nandi Hills  to Mosoriot.

Speaking today during Madaraka Day celebrations in Kapsabet Dr Lagat termed the attempt by the propagandist as unfounding and baseless and that it will not deter his efforts in seeing that the University is fully established in Nandi Hills, “With regards to Koitalel Samoei University College, I want to state with FINALITY that this is a proposed public institution of Higher Learning, the first of its kind in Nandi County and will be situated at the present day Samoei Secondary School in Nandi Hills. I am saddened by irresponsible peddling of lies to the effect that this university has been relocated elsewhere”, added Lagat.

His sentiments were echoed by Deputy governor Dominic Biwott who maintained that Koitalel Samoei University named after Nandi’s colonial hero Koitalel arap Samoei who was killed in Nandi Hills, will remain in Nandi Hills, adding that plans were on top gear for the president to come and officially lay foundation stone.

The County government has already purchased 100acres of land for the establishment and expansion of the proposed University. Moreover, the recent signing of MoU with University of Nairobi has been seen as milestone towards the realization of the first public institution of Higher learning in the County.
