The Annual Nandi County Agricultural Show & Trade Fair 2015 will be held from 5th -7th November, 2015 at the Show Ground, Kapsabet.
The Theme of the Show is “Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security, National Growth and Heritage.”
This is therefore to invite you and your organization / institution to participate and exhibit during the show which targets between 10,000-15,000 shows goers. Exhibitors to bring in their exhibits on 4th November 2015 and judging is on 5th in the morning.
The annual rent for space is Ksh. 120 per sq. metre. This will come down significantly if you plan to put up a permanent structure which is strongly encouraged.

NANDI LEADERS URGE RESIDENTS TO LIVE IN HARMONY
Nandi residents have been urged to co – exist peacefully with all communities in the County. This was said by Nandi governor Dr Cleophas Lagat during the International Peace day.
Speaking during the event , Lagat said that peace was paramount for economic posterity in the County because when peace prevails the economy of the county will go up and livelihoods will be improved. Also present during the function was Nandi senator Stephen Sang who urged the entire leadership of the county to work hard in delivering services to the residents .Mr Sang warned those who were propagating and dividing communities along ethnic lines.
On her part, Nandi Women representative Zipporah Kering adviced bodaboda operators to be cautious of their health adding that ridding bodaboda for a lengthy period of time causes health complications such as chest problems.
Recently Kapsabet town witnessed unrest following insecurity cases after residents administered mob justice on suspected criminals who were alleged to have been colluding with some security officers. Police County Commander Mr. Kubai urged residents and bodaboda operators to observe traffic rules and avoid rampant mob justice to suspected criminals . ‘’You should not take the laws in your own hands , let the security officers play their part.’’ He added.
THREE KILLED, 10 OFFICERS INJURED FOLLOWING INSECURITY PROTEST BY KAMOBO RESIDENTS
Three suspects have been killed and 10 police officers injured by irate mob in Kamobo in Kapsabet Nandi County.The suspects are believed to be behind a series of brutal killings of boda boda operators in the town .
Angry mob engaged in running battles with the police following the arrest of suspects who are alleged to have been terrorizing the operators.
The residents pelted stones and overpowered the officers who were holding refuge the suspect prompting them to ran for safety. The mob then entered the station and lynched the suspect to death.Ten people were injured during the incident.
Those injured included Nandi central OCPD Joakim Mecha, Nandi Central DCIO Justus Nzelu and other police officers.
The incident comes barely day after a boda boda operator was attacked and injured by unknown gang. The operator sustained serious deep panga injuries on the head.
Confirming the incident Nandi central deputy Commissioner Mr. Richard Ajwang said that more than 3000 angry residents surrounded the police station baying for the suspect’s blood. According to Ajwang, residents demolished police structures leading to immediate temporary closure of Kamobo police post.
Ajwang called on the county leadership to mobilize residents to ensure the culture of togetherness and oneness is entrenched among residents in the largely cosmopolitan town of Kapsabet.
The residents decried rising insecurity cases in the town saying that many boda boda operators have lost their lives in the recent past.

KSH 500M READY FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ALL WATER PROJECTS IN NANDI COUNTY, SAY GOVERNOR LAGAT
H.E the Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat yesterday made a courtesy visit to Kabisaga Ward (Mosop Sub-County).During his vist, HE pledged to fully implement all the water projects within the County. Speaking during the commissioning of completed Seretio water project in Kabisaga Ward, Lagat assured residents that all water project he initiated in the County will be finished.
The County has partnered with a number of sponsors namely; SNV Netherlands, Water Trust Fund, Lake Victoria North Water Service Board and Lake Victoria South Water Service Board. Recently Water Trust Fund signed an MoU with the County government of Nandi where it received Ksh 200 million to boost provision of clean water to the residents.
Moreover, cumulated Ksh 500 million plus the budgeted funds are now ready for implementation of all the initiated water projects in the County, said
Lagat.
Speaking at the same time Chairperson Lake Victoria North Water Service Board Hon Joseph Lagat, pledged that he will continue to support the County government in implementation of its water projects.
NANDI COUNTY HEALTH WORKERS CALLS OFF STRIKE
Nandi County Health workers yesterday evening called off their strike.Calling off the strike, after a prolonged closed door meeting and return-to -work formula chaired by Nandi County Deputy governor Dominic Biwott, Secretary Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Nandi Chapter Mr Amos Ngetich said that their grievances had been addressed and all staff will resume back to duty starting tomorrow on Wednesday 26th of August, ”All we wanted was a well written and signed document, all our grievances have been addressed and i therefore call off the strike” added Ngetich.
HEALTH SERVICES GROUNDED IN NANDI COUNTY
Health services have been grounded in 6 Sub hospitals in Nandi County after the Medical staff went on strike.
A circular from Director of Health Dr.Kemboi urging the medics to report to work by 3am on 20th has been ignored since no one has done so.
The Director further clarified that no life has been lost contrary to earlier report from the media.
County secretary Mr.Francis Ominde had earlier held a meeting with medical unionists and was expected to give a comprehensive statement on Tuesday last week concerning a number of grievances the staff wanted to be addressed, however this didn’t prevail as the staff went on strike on Monday. “Stern actions will be taken to those who don’t resume work according to the labour laws ” he added.
COUNTY COURTESY VISIT BY NACADA TEAM
This follows a directive given by the president to get rid of all illicit brews sold in the Country. So far the National government has established National Inter-agency technical Committee that brings together 16 agencies of the government whose mandate is to ensure that the drinks sold to the public meet the required standards.
Alcoholic control fund is also in place to educate the society on drug prevention skills and how best they can support themselves through engaging in activities like tailoring, artisan ship among others. Furthermore the fund will assist in establishment of rehabilitation facilities where those in need of the services will be educated, rehabilitated, given entrepreneurial skills and trained on how to manage businesses.
The CEO NACADA urged the County boss to work hand in hand with the County Commissioner to see that enforcement of law created at the National and County governments are implemented.
The Governor emphasized that his Government will support NACADA in their endeavours and see that the death toll is brought down. ” Nandi residents have also died due to consumption of illegal brews and i will not sit and watch this happen” he added.
Over 400 lives have been lost for the past three years due to illicit brew.
The team will traverse the Country for two weeks to ensure that 176 manufacturers of alcoholic drinks meet the standards required.

Deputy President William Ruto has urged universities to continuously review their course
content as the basis of improving the relevance and quality of education. Ruto said universities should take full advantage of modern technology in order to play an effective role in improving the lives of Kenyans.
“The rate of science, innovation and technology should be embraced by universities if they are
to remain relevant,” said Ruto. He called on universities to upscale the quality of research and innovation as the only way to attain solutions to challenges facing the country.
“We should have sufficient resources towards research to generate new knowledge for creative economy,” he said.
Ruto said the government was putting more resources in the development of education to make it accessible, affordable, of good quality and relevant to the needs of the country.
“As a country, we have shortage of artisans, technicians and technologists and this is why
we have resolved to establish technical institutions in every constituency to solve this
problem once and for all,” added the deputy president.
Ruto said universities should build on positive values of modern societal transformation, urging schools to create a sense of duty towards the social, economic and technological
development.
Condemn strikes in schools
Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi told universities to condemn the culture of
students going on strike because of examinations.
He said universities should implement the recommendations made by commissions,
which were formed in the past to oversee the education system in the country.
“Sometimes it is shocking that students in some universities resort to strike simply
because of lack of water. This is strange,” said Kaimenyi.
He said the National Research Fund would be ready by next week, noting that this will go a
long way into strengthening research among institutions of higher learning. Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat, MPs Julius Melly (Tinderet), Elijah Lagat (Chesumei),

The deputy president made the remarks when he presided over the 33 graduation ceremony
at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton in Nandi County on Sunday.

CHAIRMAN WATER SERVICES TRUST FUND HON. MUSIKARI KOMBO VISITS NANDI
Chairman Water Services Trust Fund Hon. Musikari Kombo today visited a number of water projects funded by trust fund in Nandi county. Speaking to the press Musikari emphasised on the need to involve the public in the various projects implemented as they will feel part and parcel of the project. “We need to work together and be accountable in all that we are tasked to do” he added. Nandi County is among the 6 counties that have benefited from funds from water services trust fund. Among the projects his team visited include Kapkilel water source that 105 families, 2 primary and 1 secondary school have benefited from gravitated water. So far more than 1000 families are getting water from 13 protected springs, 100 families are getting water from 2 water kiosks in the area. CEC Lands, Environment and Natural Resources Dr. John Chumo thanked the entire team for the good work they have done in the County.”Being the chairman of all Land ministers in the Country i will lead by showing example in my County” he emphasised. COUNTY DONATES 1 MILLION TO NURTURE TALENTS AT KOSIRAI GIRLS
The 2015 Volley Ball champions Kosirai girls received a warm reception back home today.
Leaders led by Nandi County Governor H.E Dr Cleophas Lagat, the school and the sponsors gave a heroic reception to the champions.
Governor Lagat congratulated the team for an extraordinary effort that earned them the trophy.
Kosirai girls emerged the winners at the recently concluded National competition after beating Kwanthanze girls from Machakos County in a set of 3-2, in a highly contested match.
Moreover, the County has donated 1 million shillings for nurturing talents at the school.The initiative will go along away in tapping talents
especially in the sporting activities in schools across the County, added Lagat.
The Team proceeds to Rwanda for East and Central competition this month and the County government has sponsored them and their fans.
