WORLD VISION HOLDS A 3 DAY NANDI COUNTY TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP INCEPTION WORKSHOP

World vision advocates for youth involvement in governance and budget making in government, both national and county level. Nandi being a youth-led county having elected the youngest governor in Kenya has made strides in incorporating the youth in decision making. Recently Nandi held public participation forums in every ward that sought to get the views of the residents on the budget and made their contributions.

The department of sports and Youth affairs in collaboration with the World Vision Kenya roots for youth involvement. A technical Working Group has been established which will coordinate the implementation of county programs, inform the planning, budgeting and decision making processes, priority setting anchored in public participation and taking leadership in coordinating, monitoring and influencing the Youth programs within the county. This will ensure targeted programmes meets the needs of all the youth. It will also ensure meaningful resource allocation and utilisation by counties and increased accountability and implementation.

The County Youth Technical Working Group (CTWG) appreciates the strength, resources and influence that each stakeholder has on leveraging on the power of partnership in addressing youth issues in a more coordinated way. Further, the group provides a great opportunity for various state and non-state actors working on matters youth within Nandi County to review and analyse the status of the Youth in planning, programming, budgeting and policy with the aim of making and influencing key decisions affecting youth.

Present at the three day event were the Project Coordinator Peninah Vulimu, Chief Officer Youth Affairs and Arts Nelson Ligaga, facilitator Hassan Opidi and the technical working group which is drawn from several directorates.
