UPDATE ON FLLOCA PROJECTS PROGRESS AND IMPLEMENTATION

The Department of Lands, Environment, and Climate Change convened a meeting today with chairpersons and ward administrators overseeing the FLLOCA (Financing Locally-Led Climate Action) projects.

The session was held to review the status of project identification, contractor engagement, and implementation strategies.

Over 40 projects will be supported through FLLOCA grants. These projects aim to address critical issues such as the access and distribution of clean water, the rehabilitation of riparian lands, and the construction of agricultural input stores aimed at reducing post-harvest losses.

Additionally, infrastructure development under these initiatives will enhance the overall environmental and agricultural productivity of the region.

The initiatives under the FLLOCA program are characterized by active collaboration between local community and county government, reinforcing the need for transparency and accountability.

As such, speaking during the meeting, CO Lands, Environment and Climate change Jonah Tireito emphasised the team, to ensure that the projects are done as per the bill of quantities as that will ensure they are well done.

“Let’s work in synergy to ensure the communities and wards we represent benefit and sustain the projects going forward. These initiatives fully involve active participation of local community and county government and therefore accountability is key.”He emphasized.

The emphasized action point emerged from the meeting centred around real-time evaluation, ensuring that the projects are on track and that any potential issues are identified and addressed promptly.
