TAKING HEALTH SERVICES CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE
The County Government of Nandi remains committed in its quest to ensure that provision of health services is responsive to the needs of respective communities.
This is in line with Governor Sang’s agenda of working towards provision of Universal Health Coverage to Nandi residents.
Sang’s administration has made great progress in the provision of quality health care to the residents and concerted efforts are being made to take the essential medical services closer to the people.
The County Government of Nandi is investing in the development of both infrastructure and personnel at all community based hospitals to make service delivery more efficient.
The ongoing expansion of hospitals and healthcare centres across the county is geared towards driving equitable and quality healthcare by enabling them to improve on the healthcare they deliver.
In 2017, there were 103 operational dispensaries, we now have 134; 20 more have been operationalized and 11 newly constructed dispensaries. The county has also renovated 64 more dispensaries. There’s also an additional 3 theatres up from the previous 2.
On his working tour of Tindiret Ward in Tinderet Sub County, Governor Sang officiated the opening of a new Out-Patient wing at Mbogo Valley Dispensary. He also witnessed the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Kipsirwo Dispensary and later opened Setek Maternity Wing at Setek Health Center.
Governor Sang said it was gratifying to witness the expansion of hospitals across the county saying improving access to healthcare contributes to better health outcomes and increases the productivity of the people leading to economic growth.
The provision of attainable standard of health, including reproductive health and emergency treatment, have raised the expectations of Nandi residents regarding healthcare.
It is through this that the Department of Health aspires to provide Equitable, Affordable and Quality healthcare to all residents of Nandi, especially the underprivileged.
The Governor was accompanied by the Deputy Governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot, Tindiret Ward MCA Kipkurui Chepkwony, CEC Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koech, Chief Officer for Agriculture Wilson Lelei, his roads and infrastructure counterpart Jonah Tireito, Department of Health Director for Administration and Planning Fredrick Kiptum among other senior county officials.
