PWDs URGED TO REGISTER TO BENEFIT FROM GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The County Executive Committee Member for Gender and Social Welfare Rose Angira has asked persons with disabilities to register in order to benefit from government programmes.

Speaking in Koibarak, Kabwareng Ward while issuing assistive devices and other assorted commodities to PWDs, reiterated the county’s commitment to support the interests of all persons living with disabilities within the county through economic and social-support programmes.

“We are committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusivity to ensure no part of the society is left behind in the realization of the county’s socio-economic development goals,” said Angira.

The CEC Member said the county government is undertaking assessment of PWDs and appealed to those who are yet to be assessed to visit Kapsabet County Referral Hospital for assessment every Wednesday.

The CEC stressed the need for PWDs to register with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and Inua Jamii programme so that the government has accurate data to guide planning and resource allocation for projects and programmes for them.
