ONCOLOGY UNIT OPENS AT KAPSABET COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL
Cancer patients in Nandi County will now have access to Oncology facilities close to home, thanks to a new oncology unit opened at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.
The Oncology Unit was officially opened on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by the CECM for Health Ruth Koech, International Cancer Institute Doctors, hospital oncologists, staff and patients.
Ruth said the opening of the Oncology Unit will be of significant benefit on those that need it most.
“Patients that may have previously needed to travel to MTRH will now have access to the highest level of care here at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital,” said Ruth.
The Unit is part of an ongoing effort to enhance cancer care services in the County. The new Oncology Unit will better serve the growing number of patients accessing chemotherapy services by providing a more comfortable and private area for patients.
“It’s wonderful to finally have the dedicated oncology unit up and running,” said Patrick Kenei, Kapsabet County Referral Hospital Oncologist.
“We are now supporting over 20 patients, and expect that number to continue increasing in the coming weeks and months,” said Kenei.
