NANDI TO AUDIT THE ENTIRE REVENUE COLLECTION PROCESSES IN BID TO INCREASE OWN- SOURCE REVENUE

The County Government of Nandi is keen Strengthening internal financial controls with a view of ensuring value for public money and promote accountability through a professional Audit system as stipulated in the Public Finance Management Act 2012.

The department of Finance and Economic Planning has established the County Audit Committee that will be charged with Audit the County’s financial statements as well as providing oversight checks in all financial processes.

During an induction workshop for both internal and the County Audit Committees that was conducted in partnership with AHADI Kenya, the County Executive Committee Member for Finance and economic planning CPA Alfred Lagat said that both Committees will be tasked with Auditing all the financial processes with a priority being given to the much needed audit on the entire revenue collection system to address the current decline of revenue collection.

“You will be called upon as an audit committee to check into the continuous drop in own-source revenue collection with a view of giving an advisory on ways to expand the collection from the current 300 million to meet the targets set for every fiscal year” CPA Lagat said while officially opening the Three- Day workshop.

Lagat further said that attempts by the County administration to increase Own-source revenue through enactment of finance bills have been greatly hampered by Court injunctions against finance bills that propose to increase levies on different businesses so as to meet the set targets.
