NANDI RESIDENTS GET FREE DENTAL CLINIC SERVICES

Hundreds of Nandi residents have benefited from free dental clinic checkups, courtesy of the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.

The doctors being hosted by Baraton University Jeremic Hospital are on a mission of promoting oral and dental hygiene program among the residents of Nandi. The dental hygiene health program is being held in Nandi with plans to expand to other counties.

The team is led by Dental Hygienist Mrs Lynelle DeRoo Marcos who is also the Mrs Universe 2022, USA. The exercise will run from May 22 to June 3, 2022 at Jeremic Hospital, Baraton.

The regular preventive care of the teeth and gums is important in maintaining quality of life and overall health, playing a role in preventing diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, poor nutrition, cavities and pain.

Speaking while officially opening the dental clinic check up exercise at the hospital, the CECM for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koech said that regular dental check-ups are essential because they help keep your teeth and gums healthy.

She encouraged Nandi residents to practice oral hygiene and have regular dental check ups and cleaning twice a year if possible. She further thanked Baraton University for organizing the event.

One of the beneficiaries of the free dental clinic, Mzee Kosgei, said he has suffered a molar toothache for over a year because he did not have money to visit a dentist.

However, his prayers were answered as the tooth was extracted at no cost and the brown covering stain cleaned leaving her teeth sparkling white.

“I am happy for the services offered at no cost. I thank the group of doctors who visited our University Hospital today. We invite them again and again so that they can help many who cannot afford to visit dental clinics due to financial constraints,” said Mzee Kosgei.
