NANDI COUNTY’S BORNES KITUR EMERGES THIRD IN BEYOND ZERO MARATHON

Bornes Chepkirui Kitur emerged third in 21Km Women’s race at the fourth edition of First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s Beyond Zero Half Marathon that took place in Nairobi on Sunday morning.

The Women’s category saw Brillian Kipkoech cut the tape in 1:07:02 floor Evelyn Chirchir was second 1:07:03 as Nandi’s Bornes Kitur completed the podium in 1:07:23.

Bornes is the women’s Prague Marathon and the 2017 Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon champion.

Emmanuel Bor was position 8 in the men’s 21Km race, Eric Kiptoo position 12.

Among those who took part in the races were First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge and Sports CS Amina Mohamed.

The first three finishers in the half marathon races took home Sh250,000, Sh125,000 and Sh75,000 respectively, while the top three finishers in the 10km were rewarded with Sh100,000, Sh60,000 and Sh40,000 respectively.

The event was attended by prominent personalities among them President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, CS Monica Juna, CAS Ababu Namwamba, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Besalegn, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, County First Ladies and Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge.
