NANDI COUNTY TO TRANSFORM KAIMOSI AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CENTRE INTO HUB OF EXCELLENCE
The Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) is set for a major transformation into a center of excellence for agricultural training and innovation, thanks to strategic investments and partnerships by the Nandi County Government.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing modernization works at the facility, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang emphasized the county’s commitment to equipping farmers, agripreneurs, and students with practical skills to boost agricultural productivity.
“We are working towards transforming Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre into a center of excellence for agricultural training on various value chains and innovation,” Governor Sang said. “Through strategic investments and collaborations, we aim to modernize the facility, improve training programs, and enhance infrastructure to better serve farmers, agripreneurs, students, and beyond.”
The county’s ambitious plan includes upgrading learning resources, equipping demonstration farms with modern agricultural technologies, and strengthening partnerships with research institutions and key agribusiness stakeholders.
Director of Agriculture at Kaimosi ATC, Mr. Levy Kachilei, reiterated the center’s pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture in the region.
“Our focus is on providing practical, modern agricultural training that empowers farmers with the right skills,” Mr. Kachilei said. “By upgrading our learning resources and integrating the latest farming technologies, we will enhance agricultural productivity and contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth.”
Governor Sang further noted that transforming Kaimosi ATC into a hub of agricultural excellence is part of the county’s broader strategy to unlock the agricultural potential of Nandi County and surrounding regions.
“By doing this, we seek to empower farmers with practical skills, increase agricultural productivity, and drive economic growth in the region,” he added.
The modernization efforts include the construction of new training halls, renovation of existing infrastructure, and development of demonstration farms to showcase best agricultural practices. These initiatives are expected to position Kaimosi ATC as a premier institution for agricultural training and innovation in Kenya.
The county government remains committed to enhancing agricultural value chains, creating job opportunities, and ensuring sustainable food production, aligning with Kenya’s agricultural transformation agenda.
With these upgrades, Kaimosi ATC is poised to become a leading center for agricultural excellence, providing transformative solutions for farmers and agripreneurs in Nandi County and beyond.
