NANDI COUNTY LAUNCHES 5-YEAR POWER FOR FOOD INITIATIVE TO TRANSFORM KEY AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS WITH TECH-DRIVEN PARTNERSHIPS
County level implementation of power for Food partnerships team today held a meeting with technical staff from Agriculture, Environment and Energy in identifying the value chains to be implemented in Nandi.
The 5 years project targets value chains in Horticulture, Coffee, Dairy, Agro forestry, Poultry, macadamia, avocado, apiculture and aquaculture and aims to engage 1200 technology users in the 3 Sub Counties namely Emgwen, Nandi hills and Chesumei in order to promote Regenerative and PURE technology with interventions that will be sustainable.
The programme is supported by 8 implementing partners including Kilimo Trust, Greenzone and Kenya Renewable Energy Association among others tackling different pathways through peer to peer learning, farm demonstrations and capacity building of SMEs on technology. 
Mr. Andrew Kasera from Kilimo trust emphasised on having master trainers trained so as to train the field farmers effectively. Each farmer field school will have lead farmers and master trainer well versed in that field. A total of 7 field days and 40 Farmer Field Schools will be supported by the partners together with B2B meetings and participation in ASK Shows.
Emgwen Sub County, Kilibwoni ward proposed 14 groups comprising of 420 technology users while Nandi hills Sub County, Chepkunyuk ward proposed 13 groups with 390 technology users and Chesumei Sub County, Kisirai ward proposed 13 groups translating to 390 farmers.
