MOSORIOT KMTC TO BE COMMISSIONED AS AN ORAL HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTION
Nandi County – Marking a major milestone in enhancing oral healthcare services, the County Government of Nandi is collaborating with Mosoriot Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to commission it as an oral health training institution, along with the launch of a state-of-the-art dental clinic and a Community Oral Health Programme. The twin initiatives are set to be unveiled during this year’s World Oral Health Day celebrations.
The dental clinic, once operational, will offer essential dental care services to the public, bridging the gap in accessible oral healthcare within the county. Additionally, it will serve as a critical training hub for future oral health professionals, equipping students with practical skills and knowledge to address community-based dental health challenges.
Speaking during an inspection visit earlier today, the Director of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), Moses Kiptanui, underscored the importance of the facility in improving dental healthcare standards. The KMPDC team assessed Mosoriot KMTC as a Community Oral Health Training Institution—a crucial step towards accreditation and commissioning.
“Our assessment today ensures that the institution meets the stringent standards required to offer quality dental services and training. This facility holds the promise of not only serving the community’s immediate dental health needs but also producing highly trained oral health professionals,” said Kiptanui.
The inspection was followed by a courtesy call where key stakeholders, including representatives from the County Government of Nandi and Mosoriot KMTC management, deliberated on the institution’s progress. Discussions focused on the clinic’s upcoming commissioning, its role in addressing oral healthcare needs, and the impact of the Community Oral Health Programme on the region.
The Community Oral Health Programme aims to raise awareness about oral hygiene, provide preventive care, and empower residents with knowledge to maintain healthy dental practices. This programme aligns with global efforts to promote oral health as an integral part of overall well-being.
Governor Stephen Sang reiterated his commitment to supporting health initiatives that benefit the community. “The launch of this dental clinic and the oral health programme marks a new chapter in healthcare delivery in Nandi. We believe that access to quality oral healthcare is vital, and this partnership with Mosoriot KMTC brings us closer to achieving that goal,” said Governor Sang.
As Nandi County gears up for the World Oral Health Day celebrations, the commissioning of Mosoriot KMTC as an oral health training institution is expected to play a transformative role in the county’s healthcare landscape, ensuring long-term benefits for both current residents and future generations.
