Following the initiative to support farmers, the county government of Nandi through the department of ICT in liaison with the department of Agriculture and Cooperative Development, on Friday led Mosop agricultural extension officers through a one day training on the NandE-farm system.
The extension officers are expected to transfer this agricultural technology and innovation among farmers at their wards. The extension officer will be responsible to expand all the knowledge for the full benefit of the farmer. Each ward in Mosop Sub County will be provided with one gadget among its two extension officers to facilitate the process.
At the ward level, the system is set to help farmers keep proper management of the agricultural processes in their various value chains, provide for quick and effective access of extension services and help in market facilitation for their produce.
The extension officers were led through the system as an integrated mobile platform. They were trained on how to use the platform to : register farmers, edit farmers details, view current stock volumes, receive stock transferred to service points, redeem vouchers received, create new receipt for transaction, view agro dealer payments, create and view orders and to view product list.
The training was held in Mosop Subcounty administration headquarters. Wards represented were Chepterwai, Kabisaga, Kabiyet, Kipkaren, Ndalat, Kurgung/Surungai and Sangalo/Kebulonik.
In attendance were the technical officers from the above named departments and the Safaricom team.
