HEALTH BOOST AS KEMSA DELIVERS DRUGS TO NANDI COUNTY

In a move to bolster healthcare services, the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) has delivered a consignment of assorted drugs and non-pharmaceuticals to the County Government of Nandi. The delivery, worth Kshs 40 million, is set to replenish pharmacies in all health facilities across the county, ensuring residents have access to essential medicines and medical supplies.

The consignment was received at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital this morning and flagged off for distribution by Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot. During the handover ceremony, Dr. Cheruiyot commended KEMSA for its timely delivery, which aligns with the county’s efforts to maintain a steady supply of drugs and medical supplies. She emphasized the importance of the delivery in strengthening healthcare services and urged residents to take advantage of the improved services at county health facilities.

“This delivery is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that our health facilities are well-stocked and equipped to serve the people of Nandi. I urge all residents to utilize the services offered at our hospitals and dispensaries as we continue to work towards better healthcare for all,” said the Deputy Governor.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health and Sanitation, Dr. Angeline Kirui, reiterated the county government’s dedication to ensuring a continuous supply of drugs and medical essentials. She assured residents that the county is working closely with KEMSA and other stakeholders to address any gaps in the supply chain and improve healthcare delivery.

“We are committed to ensuring that our health facilities have the necessary supplies to serve our people. This delivery is a step in the right direction, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our residents have access to quality healthcare services,” Dr. Kirui stated.

The Chief Officer for Health and Sanitation, Fredrick Kiptum, also expressed gratitude to KEMSA for its consistent support, noting that the agency’s refill rate for drugs in Nandi County stands at an impressive 70-90%. He highlighted the importance of this partnership in maintaining the county’s healthcare standards and ensuring that residents receive timely and effective medical care.

The event was attended by key health officials, including the County Director for Health, Dr. David Bungei, County Pharmacist Dr. Andrew Kisang, and Kapsabet County Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Tanui, among others. Their presence underscored the collective effort to enhance healthcare services in the county.

The delivery of the Kshs 40 million consignment marks a significant milestone in Nandi County’s healthcare system. It not only addresses the immediate need for medical supplies but also reflects the county government’s proactive approach to improving healthcare access and quality for its residents. With this boost, Nandi County is better positioned to meet the health needs of its population and continue its journey towards achieving universal health coverage.
