FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ROAD NETWORK IN KAPSABET TOWN

Kapsabet municipality is its initial stages for the implementation of the next phase of Municipality development projects geared towards improving road network within Kapsabet town.
Today the County department of Administration, public service and e-Government together with the leadership of Kapsabet municipality held a meeting with Consultants from University of Nairobi led by the Consultancy Manager, Stanley Ngache. This infrastructural consultancy will help the county in feasibility study, planning, design and costing ahead of the implementation of these road construction works.

According to the CECM for Administration, Public Service and e-Government- Teresa Morogo, this project focuses on improving accessibility in town through re-carpeting and improving existing infrastructure, expansion and tarmacking of service lanes and parking space as well as improvement of drainage and pedestrian walkways.

The team also went round the town for site review of the areas for these constructions work, re-structuring and improvement of road network in Kapsabet town.
The major sited areas for tarmacking are the service lane from Kapsabet County Referral Hospital morgue through KCB bank, ICT centre all the way to keben; loop connecting town, slaughter house and the new jua kali shades; pavements and parking areas within the town, kokwet road, Citam road and surungai road.

The Chief Officer for Administration and Public Service management, Philip Towett highlighted that in carrying out environmental and social impact assessment, the is need to seek public view. “The department will always give the citizens an opportunity to give their view. With the current state regarding prevention of Corona virus spread, the team will use questionnaires for public participation.” He added.

The Municipal Manager, David Sum further called upon the citizens to support these projects to the end and also give room for the smooth implementation especially on the new back lanes in town and parking areas.
