CDDCs SIGN MOU WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT TO FACILITATE IMPLEMENTATION OF NARIG PROJECT
The County Government of Nandi through the department of Agriculture & Cooperative Development on Wednesday entered into an agreement with farmers who will oversee the implementation of priority community developments at Ward level.

Nandi County is among 21 Counties implementing the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Project (NARIGP) whose development objective is to improve productivity and profitability among vulnerable and marginalized communities.
NARIGP, which is implemented in 20 Wards in our County has been identified as a Community Driven project and all the benefiting communities and stakeholders have already been adequately sensitized and consulted.
All the 20 implementing wards have prepared Community Development Plans articulating their development priorities.
Speaking when he witnessed the signing of MOU, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang lauded the Department of Agriculture and Cooperative Development for the steps they have taken to establish the committees in each Ward.
“I’m reliably informed that all CDDCs members were elected through an open, fair and democratic process particularly by farmers engaging in Dairy, Indigenous Chicken, Irish potatoes and Avocados, which are the priority value chains supported by the project in the County.” said Sang.
Sang also expressed his confidence with the efforts made by the project staff to prepare CDDCs to carry out their mandates in each Ward.
CECM for Agriculture and Cooperative Development Dr Kiplimo Araap Lagat revealed that all the CDDCs have been adequately trained on their roles and registered as Community Based Organizations (CBOs).
“They’ve opened bank accounts through which project grants for implementing beneficiary farmer groups will be channeled.” added Dr. Lagat.
The signing of MOU signify the commitment by both parties and will now facilitate transfer of grants to the respective special purpose accounts for project implementation.
Today’s signing of MOU was witnessed by Governor Stephen Sang, EU & FAO Representatives in Kenya . Also present the Deputy Governors Dr Yulita Mitei, Nandi & her Counterpart from Uasin Gishu Dominic Chemno, CECM, COs and a host of MCAs.
