NANDI COUNTY GOVERNMENT DONATES INCUBATORS TO KAPKOROS/KAPCHORWA WARD POULTRY FARMERS

Kapkoros/Kapchorwa Ward poultry farmers have a reason to smile after Nandi County government donated incubators to Kapkoros Cooperative and Ainapngetuny Cooperative societies on Monday. Nandi Deputy Governor Dominic Biwott donated the incubators to the poultry farmers at Kapkoros & Labuywo market. He was accompanied by CEC Cooperative Development Mr. Paul Rop, CEC Agriculture Mrs. Mary Ngelechei, CO Health Dr. Serem and Kapchorwa Ward MCA Hon. DC Rotich.

The chairman of Ainapngetuny Cooperative Mr. Stanley Rotich said that the incubators will help the farmers bolster the poultry sector which is one of the economic activities in the region.

“This cooperative has a total of 120 members who are all into poultry farming on a full time basis. The incubators donated to us by Nandi County Government will bolster this sector which is going to be the largest in this region,” he said.

The Deputy Governor said that the donation was to enable the farmers increase production and sell their own eggs.

“The poultry industry in Nandi county has immense potential and that is why we have donated the incubators so that we help our people produce and sell their own eggs. One incubator hatches 528 chicks in 21 days,” said Biwott.

The County deputy boss also distributed 12,000 coffee seedlings to Lengon Cooperative society and later laid a foundation stone for the construction of Kapkoros Maternity wing.
