GOVERNOR LAGAT CAUTION RESIDENTS TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO AVERT FIRE ACCIDENTS

Nandi governor HE Dr Cleophas Lagat has urged residents to exercise caution on possible causes of fire. Speaking when he flagged off two state of the art fire engines in Kapsabet, Lagat said that most of fire accidents have been caused by carelessness and unprofessional handling of electrical equipment.

against fire risks, a move that has been welcomed by the business
community in County led by Chairman Chamber of Commerce Mr Busienei who praised the Lagat’s administration for considering the plight of the business people, who for a very time have faced insurmountable challenges in responding to fire emergencies in the past

The two fire equipment has a capacity of to carry 20,000 litres, with the ability to exert pressure up to 14 storey building. In Kapsabet the tallest building has 10 storey building. In addition, the purchase of the machines will see employment of 25 operators, added Lagat.

Moreover, the governor has called on the staff on emergency desk to be alert all the time and respond swiftly when the need arises to avert any loss of property or lives, adding that two hotlines will be provided for two engines, sentiments echoed by deputy governor Dominic Biwott who said quick response was paramount for the effectiveness of the machines and to serve its intended purpose, adding that new staff to be hired will undergo training, ‘’One key factor to response, if we respond well we will be able to utilize it in the right way’’ added Biwott

The two machines will now be stationed in Nandi Hills and Kapsabet towns, with the Nandi Hills fire station covering Nandi Hills,Tindiret and Aldai Sub Counties, while Kapsabet fire station covering Emgwen, Chesumei and Mosop Sub Counties, added governor Lagat
