GOVERNOR SANG PRESIDES OVER KSH 71 MILLION BURSARY DISBURSEMENT TO NANDI LEARNERS
The County Government of Nandi, through the Department of Education and Vocational Training, has today disbursed KSh 71 million in bursaries to students across the county under the first cohort of beneficiaries.
His Excellency Governor Stephen Sang presided over the exercise, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to making education accessible to every deserving learner. The programme will support students in secondary schools, including learners with special needs, helping ease the financial burden on families and ensuring that no child is denied the opportunity to learn because of financial challenges.
“This is more than just financial aid; it is an investment in dreams, opportunities, and a brighter, more inclusive future for our children,” Governor Sang said.
As the county continues to prioritise education, Governor Sang announced that KSh 120 million has been set aside in the coming financial year’s budget to expand the bursary programme and reach even more deserving students. This reflects the county’s commitment to inclusive, quality education and its belief that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed.
The bursary disbursement is part of the county’s broader strategy to support education and vocational training, with more than Sh846 million earmarked for the sector in the 2026/2027 financial year. The County Education Fund Committee will oversee the programme’s implementation to ensure transparency and equitable distribution of funds.
Present at the event were the Chairperson NACES, CEC Member for Education Renney Kirwa, Chief Officer for Education Beatrice Jemurgor, Deputy County Secretary Dr. Lydia Kosgei, CEC Member for Administration Dr. Philemon Bureti, Nandi County Assembly members led by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Wilson Sang, County Assembly Education Committee Members, among other key county and County Assembly members.
