PLAN FOR NEXT KENYA URBAN SUPPORT PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR KAPSABET MUNICIPALITY.
Kapsabet Municipality is in the progress of implementing the development Projects through its first funding awarded by World Bank.
These projects include the construction of the pedestrian walkway, racing track, street lighting, Jua kali shades, market stalls, ablution block at Kapsabet bus pack, a drainage system and installation of high masts.
It is now anticipating for the second funding and has started planning for the next development Projects. The proposed Projects are the improvement of the road network of approximately 3km within the town as well as the construction of an open-air market. This market is a makeshift in preparation of the modern market planned for the next subsequent funding.
After public participation held on 29th October 2019, the public views were received and taken through a number of discussion with the stakeholders for deliberation on the scheduling and prioritization of these development projects. From the public participation, it was agreed that the Municipality will first improve the road network in town and later construct a modern market.
Today the leadership of Kapsabet Municipality held a Meeting with MCAs in Kapsabet Municipality for stakeholders identification and engagement plan as part of project identification and implementation.
Among the stakeholders present were CECM for Administration public service and e-Government- Teresa Morongo, Chief Officer for Administration and Public Service- Philip Towett, the Municipal Manager-David Sum, MCA Kapsabet Ward- Hon. Fred Kipkemboi, MCA Kosirai Ward-Hon. Joshua Ngetich, MCA Kilibwoni Ward-Hon. Cynthia Muge, MCA Chemundu/ Kapng’etuny-Hon. Robert Kirwa, a representative of the Municipality board- Donald Koros, a representative from KURA- Eng. Limo, County Principal Engineer-Hillary Koech and the Deputy Municipal Manager- Isaiah Keter.
This proposal will then be presented to the public again through public participation before its presentation to the County Assembly for approval.
