COUNTY ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE TRAINING BEGINS
Food and Agriculture Organization in partnership with the county department of Lands, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change today held County Environment Committee Training for Gazzetted members of the environment.
The Environment members have been gazzetted and some of the functions they have been mandated to do include being responsible for proper management of the environment within the County, Development of County Environment Action plan after every 5 years , promote environmental education and awareness to the community, Protection and conservation of environment ie hills, forests, traditional areas and environmental restoration and conservation by cutting off eucalyptus trees an exercise which is ongoing across the 6 Sub Counties.
Among the areas of focus discussed include discussions on Environmental issues like hunting of sitatungas and dikdiks, escarpment restoration, Sand harvesting along the rivers, change in rainfall patterns, waste management and Climate Change.
