CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON ESTABLISHMENT OF SOLAR PARK PROJECT
Acting CECM Lands, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change Dr. Kiplimo Lagat today held a consultative meeting between County officials from the department of Lands, Agriculture, Nema, Health, Songhor community representatives and a representative from Solar Park project to be established at Kimwani near Kopere.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Kiplimo emphasized on the need for a thorough public participation to be done to let the community understand the scope and importance of the project.
“It is important that community concerns are heard and addressed since the project is expected to improve their livelihoods” said Dr. Lagat.
According to the Director of Physical Planning Veronica Kioko, the change of user from Agricultural to Industrial has so far been done and it is the master plan and the building plans that await views of the public during public participation.
So far a number of activities including conducting environmental Impact assessment, carrying out a 7km social study to find out if the community around have the skills to work in the park.
James Kigomo, Solar Park project representative emphasized that there’s need for harmony and good working relations with the community so as to achieve the set objectives of the project.
Also present were Sports, Youth Affairs and Arts CEC Elly Kurgat, Chief Officer LENRCC Dr. Solomon Mang’ira, Songhor/Soba Ward MCA Hon. Justin Chepnyango, Sub County Administrator Tindiret Barnabas Tallam, Director NEMA Mr. Mahiva, Environment Director, Mr. Meli and Public health Officer Mr. Bichii among other county officials.
