BRITISH ENVOY OPENS MATERNITY WING IN KABIYET
The facility is meant to decongest the hospital’s maternity ward and ensure efficient service delivery.
Speaking at the facility, H.E Mariott said the new and improved features of the new maternity wing were the result of the sustained partnership between the British government and the County Government of Nandi.
The High Commissioner thanked Governor Sang for demonstrating that devolution of the health sector can bring essential services closer to the people. “Your leadership has led to the opening of this modern maternity wing, furnished with state-of-the-art equipment. It is truly an impressive facility. We are also glad to note the construction and operationalization of new health facilities across the county to meet growing demands for health services. These kinds of improvements will lead to a healthier Nandi County,” said H.E Jane Mariott.

On his part, Governor Sang applauded the British government for partnering with the county Government of Nandi in delivering socio-economic development programmes. He said that the County was committed towards increasing investment in health care. “We are focused on strengthening all the building blocks of the health systems and through partnerships, expanding the diversity of the health services provided in order to be responsive to the population needs and emerging diseases as well as incrementally invest in strengthening primary health care and revamping community health services through legislation and allocation of the necessary resources,” he added.
The County Government of Nandi has also invested in other maternity facilities within the county and has built a new modern Outpatient Unit and Trauma Centre in Kabiyet Hospital which is operational. The facility also has a theatre which is ready for commissioning.
