AFYA BORA, SAUTI YETU NUTRITION PROGRAMME SET TO BEGIN IN MARCH

The County Government of Nandi envisions an empowered citizenry through an open and responsive government and has been on the path towards achieving some of the Open Government initiatives.

Together with National Taxpayers Association (NTA), the County has created an environment for non-state actors to assess the project implementation performance and to recommend actions for strengthening transparency and accountability.

Open Government Partnership (OGP) progresses into the third year with more partnerships in various sectors including Nutrition.

Earlier today, the County Government of Nandi together with NTA continued with deliberations with various groups as it gears towards initiating Nutrition programme in March this year. Dubbed “Afya Bora Sauti Yetu”, this programme focusses on Transparency and Openness in budgeting and execution of Nutrition programmes in Nandi County.

The three year programme is being funded by Christian Aid through NTA who are co-applicants to OGP membership with the County Government of Nandi.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor H.E Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot, said that the county government of Nandi aspires to provide a benchmark for best practices in civic engagement, open procurement and disclosures of important information that is necessary for informed participation of citizens, effective oversight of government and its officials and the efficiency of government functionality.

Present were the former Chief Officer for ICT Jonathan Misoi and his Economic and Planning counterpart Felix Sambu who have been very instrumental in building capacity of the community members, Community Health Workers, Health Facility Management Committees and partners in Health sector.
