Nandi circuit the emerging tourist hub
With close to a million tourists visiting Kenya annually, Nandi County is geared to benefit from this pie by investing in tourism facilities, marketing the 66 identified tourist sites and positioning the County through the ‘Nandi tourist circuit’ recovery strategy. The circuit stretches from Chepkiit waterfalls, which is one kilometre from Eldoret International airport, to Kingwal swamp, the home of Sitatunga, the upcoming Kamatargui animal orphanage, Nandi forest, the bird watchers paradise, Koitalel Samoei museum in Nandi Hills, Sheu Morobi suicide cliff, Songhor prehistoric site, Bonjoge game reserve and finally the scenic Nandi rock enroute to Kisumu airport. Indeed, Nandi is an emerging tourist hub.
Sports tourism is also being explored with the realization that Nandi is a Source of Champions. We are also mobilising residents to join cooperatives as catalysts of communal development and hence economic growth. This is a sure way of preparing the county for economic take-off.
